Building upon the static workflow available in STARS, Phineus introduces additional capabilities provided by new modules allowing workflows to be amended to a particular users (and experimental) needs.

Workflows are intended to be generic but allow a level of flexibility allowing more focussed analysis steps to be introduced. We have focussed initially on MLST projects and as such provide inbuilt workflows for commonly available mlst databases (see Download)

Phineus utilises a robust Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) allowing the storage of settings as well as the storage of data for both the short and long term. The use of a database also enables the easy export of data into other packages, in a variety of formats.
